ACL has always scheduled the festival when the University of Texas wasn't playing a home game. But Hurricane Ike wiped out that plan. Now fans are scanning for options and scoring on Craigslist.
On one end of the field, furnished places that go for between $100 and $150 a night. Jerome Gomez rents out a one-bedroom just north of campus during ACL and South by Southwest.
The truth is, its based on what we did last year and the year before that. And its better safe to rent it out - we're not in to make a lot of money, said Gomez.
In South Austin, Nate Thompson is offering up rooms in his house for about the same price.
I'm gonna be here. I figure you got to make it reasonable, and if the people are friendly enough, I don't see why I couldn't make them a deal, said Thompson

Like virtually anyone my age with a passing interest in musical theater, I have a Rent story. I saw it in Greenville, South Carolina with friends from a summer arts program who had introduced me to the play in the first place.
